Astor Courts, the historic 50-acre property in Rhinebeck, N.Y., where Chelsea Clinton recently wed investment banker Marc Mezvinsky, is on the block at an appraised value of US$15-million.

The 30,000-(heated)-square-feet Beaux Arts house was designed at the turn of the century by architect Stanford White for John Jacob Astor IV. Astor Courts, two hours north of New York City, is listed in the National Historic Register (and so qualifies for a 20% tax credit). The home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and was recently restored by Mr. White’s great-grandson, Sam White.

Among the home’s amenities:

  • An indoor pool in Middle Eastern style, complete with vaulted ceiling and Corinthian columns
  • Marble and quarter-sawn oak flooring throughout
  • Grand salon with large glass-and-wood skylight and Greek key detailing
  • Indoor clay tennis courts
  • A 3,000-square-foot staff quarters
  • Seven fireplaces
  • Not just a master suite but a 2,000-square-foot master wing

How did Ms. Clinton choose Aston Courts? It doesn’t hurt that the estate is currently owned by Hillary Clinton supporters Kathleen Hammer, a former Oxygen Media producer, and developer Arthur Seelbinder, according to Politics Daily
